Power System Stability Improvement Based on Virus Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm

This article discusses the development of a Power System Stabilizer (PSS) utilizing Virus Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (VEPSO) to enhance power system stability. PSS is commonly used in industry suppress oscillations. The proposed algorithm was implemented on Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system, and controller coefficients were optimized using VEPSO. simulated under specific disturbance generator input power, generator's dynamic responses presented. VEPSO algorithm's results, such as faster convergence, compared ICA algorithm. simulation results demonstrate that recommended significantly improves system's oscillation damping performance.
